Stanislav Matejovsky - Truck Racing Team

   First successful year among elite
- 8.12.2000 -
Rider Mr. Stanislav Matějovský got over his first year among elite of European Truck Racing Cup. He came up with TATRA truck to race in " Super Race Truck", where only trucks with maximum power raced and therefore races in this category belong among the prestigious ones. Mr. Matějovský made a good job with his TATRA truck, which were equipped with M.A.N. engine. He took a part in the whole serial and some results were good enough to get among the top of this category. He indesputably treasures two races. In Most, where he got the fifth position in one of the races in front of his own supporters. And also results from German Nürburgring. On this race there were over 250.000 motorist fans.
The rider was very satisfied with that first-run season, he is considering it as an introducing one and on that sight it even surpassed his expectations. There were no major problems, which the Management of European Truck Cup awarded at the end of season. Mr. Matějovský and his team are proud of this award for development of this motorist discipline and very professional absolving of season.
In following racing year Mr. Matějovský will be disposing an innovated truck because of lacking time for development of new truck. There is a hard work done on the preparations of the truck in plant Tatra Kopřivnice. Management of Truck Racing Team is discussing with management of M.A.N. company the type of engine of Matějovský´s truck for next year - whether it will be the type of year 2000 or improved type for year 2001.

   Matejovsky bilancuje
- 17.10.2000 -
The racing weekend in Spanish Jarama finally concluded a ten-part serial of European Truck Cup 2000. For Stanislav Matejovsky this season has gone over expectation more than well, which had been shown in the honourable race on German Nurburgring in front of 250.000 spectators and in the best Czech result in SRTclass (5th position) during the most important race for the team - Czech Truck Prax´00 in Most. The successful entry of new team into the class of professionals is appreciated by wide range of professionals and laic public, the Czech team attracts exceptional attention of international media and gained the honour and appreciation of competing factory teams.
During the final ceremony and awarding Stanislav Matejovsky received a FIA cup for a very high professional absolving of season 2000. According to present statistics The European Cup of trucks on the whole has become more attractive and is supposed on the second place in popularity and in the amount of spectators in close contiguity behind F1.

   Stanislav Matejovsky's life race
- 15.9.2000 -
Unfortunate was the eight event of The European Truck Cup in Most for Stanislav Matějovský, when he, in an initiating lap of the first qualifying race, stopped due to the defect in the fuel-injection pump and technical problems also deprived him of the fair sixth position in the Cup. "The laminaes in the differential gear were broken and
I had some problems with overcoming the sweeps," explained Stanislav Matějovský. "It is a great pity, we could have shown to our home audience that our Tatra already keeps up with rivals. But all that was not possible today, could be possible tomorrow," adds Stanislav Matějovský. And his mechanics spent all night repairing back axles.

The biggest success and reward for their hard work was the seventh position in the second qualifying race, where a driver from Hradec Králové brought to the finish behind him a German Mercedes driver Östreich. In the next Cup race, when there was a bit jam in the retarder at the end of the final stretch, Matějovský got on the sixth position. After the Frenchman Faure got the Stop-Go penalty for repeated removing of cones along the way, the Czech driver postponed onto the fifth position.
A dramatic battle for an excelent result was struck with the Swiss Bösiger though. He was tackling Matějovský so fiercely, that the whole right side of his truck was badly damaged. And after all he went out of the track.

"After previous problems with the back axle, I would have never thought that we can make the best result of our career," admited Matějovský after the race. "In duel with Bösiger, it was major knowledge of the track that helped me. It was difficult to keep him behind me, his truck was faster by one second a lap. I believed that if I do not make a mistake, I will stay on the fifth position. The mistake was made by Bösiger after all," added Stanislav Matějovský.
   Polish Adrenaline
- 22.8.2000 -
Stanislav Matějovský - the Czech Super Race Truck Class driver - took part in a very successful promoting action of West McLaren Mercedes Adrenaline Programme.
On Friday Stanislav Matějovský had private dinner with the F1 Championship leading driver of West McLaren Mercedes team Mika Häkkinen and his wife Erja who also attended the Programme. On Saturday the exhibition drives took place in the centre of Polish Poznaň and on Sunday the Adrenaline Programme moved onto Poznaň ring. Except the truck of Stanislav Matějovský, the two-seated formula MP4-98T, special McLaren F1 GTR and Mercedes CLK 55 AMG were also presented there.
GTR driver - Chris Goodwin had even tested a racing super truck during the Programme. Great attention was engaged here by Jana Příhodová - a 17-year winner of Miss Blond International 2000 - whom this medially very attractive programme was also attended by.

   Adrenaline in Poland
- 16.8.2000 -
The Czech driver Stanislav Matějovský will be already for the second time attending the two-day-prestigious action of West McLaren Mercedes Adrenaline Programme, which will take place in Poland this weekend, with his Super Race Truck.
On Saturday in the streets of Polish Poznaň except Matějovský´s race special, two-seater formula MP4-98T, special McLaren F1 GTR and Mercedes CLK 55AMG will be introduced as well. Sunday Adrenaline Programme will be taking place right on Poznaň ring.
West McLaren Mercedes driver Mika Häkkinen - twice World Champion and F1 Championship leading driver will be present for both these days and with him also a test driver Olivier Panis and Chris Goodwin, who has presented himself in a similar project on the Brno ring in The Czech Republic already in May this year.

   Success of Tatra on Nürburgring
- 26.7.2000 -
The Czech truck driver Stanislav Matějovský achieved, as on Saturday so on Sunday Cup of Super Race Truck Class, two sixth positions in the most prestigious race of The European Truck Racing Cup. By this success he has gained 19 points during this rainy weekend, so in the weekend chart he outvied such drivers as Ovebrink (Sweden), Bösinger (Austria) and even Ferté (France).

As for exhibition late racing F1 driver Wilson Fittipaldi with Mercedes has also taken part in the race and also arrived after Stanislav Matějovský. The result again helped to confirm the position of TATRA special in the field of racing trucks in technically very demanding class of Super Race Truck.
The most popular race of the season was traditionally attended by 250.000 spectators. The team is now preparing for departure for Finish ring Alastaro where the next race is taking place.
According to Stanislav Matějovský, the most important race of the year for our Czech team is the race on Most Ring and the preparations for this race which is on 9th and 10th September have been already in progress.

   Already to the second half
- 3.7.2000 -
The race in German Nürburgring in European Truck Racing serial will be the turning point for the second part of the season and therefore it is a very good reason for looking back at the results of our only representative in class Super Race Truck Mr. Stanislav Matějovský, representing Šmídl Truck Racing Team in truck Tatra with the engine MAN. Before the entry to the season the team target was to finish each race, gather experiences and slowly proceed to the top. Last race in Nogaro proved the expectations to become reality when only one second was lacking. Šmídl Truck Racing Team was appreciated by other factory teams which can´t be a competition to the Czech team due to their technical and financial terms.

In this season there are two novices within professionals: Šmídl Truck Racing Team with Tatra and Portuguese team with Cummins. Meanwhile Tatra collects the honoured points race by race, Cummins finalised its attendance after the third race. For the period of first five races it has been shown, the racing is very equal and even, not only from the point of view of driving skill but also from technical one. The harden position of Šmídl Truck Racing Team is in certain meaning smoothened by the kindness and frankness of foreign specialist, who are trying to contribute by their gained and valued experiences to the development of truck.

In second half of the season Šmídl Truck Racing Team will concentrate all its power to lower the loss of the above mentioned second to make Stanislav Matějovský able to get involved in points for more quality position.

   Tatra aims for Nogaro
- 22.6.2000 -
The first third of racing season of European Truck Cup was finalised very successfully by racing serial TATRA and Šmídl Truck Racing Team, as was expected. Driver of team Stanislav Matějovský has scored several times and in the total layout leads ahead before experienced Swedish driver Ovebrink and two Portuguese novices of Super Race Truck class.
For this position Stanislav Matějovský, his specially prepared Tatra with engine MAN and the whole team were honoured and admired especially by foreign media, professional audience and competing teams. We also have to face the fact this private team handles the uneasy situation of novice far better than for example original manufacturer DAF team, where drivers have been already driving for two long seasons with a great time loss on the leading driver.
Stanislav Matějovský is also in a difficult position this year, because racing is very even with the difference only three decimals of second. After Austrian A1 Ring, where Stanislav Matějovský achieved appreciated seventh position the team aims for Nogaro in Southern France.

On Monday 27th March 2000 we welcomed a technical delegate FIA Mr. Gordon Forbes, coming from London for the official inspection of racing truck TATRA. Construction of this Super Race Truck is done in Prague workhouses of company Z-Invest, partner of the project. The first run of technical inspection was highly favourable.
Truck not only follows entirely all necessary parameters, which are given by technical reglement of European Truck Race Cup 2000, but its design and workmanlike characters were highly honoured as well.

   PREMIERE IN SUPER RACE
- 10.3.2000 -
The European Truck Race Cup will be the first opportunity for Šmídl Truck Racing Team to introduce a 3-year-old project of extending the top level professional drivers of "F1" trucks by the first Czech driver, class Super Race Truck.

Within this project a new cooperation between Stanislav Matějovský and car manufacturer TATRA from Kopřivnice starts.

Nowadays the final work is being done and the first racing truck is completed in workhouses of Prague company Z-Invest.

Stanislav Matějovský will be in category of professionals starting on a truck prototype of his own construction with the engine MAN, which is progressed by partial technical cooperation with TATRA and presents its name. Truck manufacturer from Kopřivnice intends to use the prestigious race to strengthen the image of the brand for wide racing public in Europe. At the same time Tatra shall check some of its outputs of technical measurements.

Official introduction of racing truck will take place at the beginning of April in background of company Hesti and is followed by truck testing on the circuit in Most, one of the major partners of the project.

The target of Šmídl Truck Racing Team in his premiere season 2000 is to reach the complete stabilisation, technical and organisational as well, and based on the new gained experiences to provide conditions for the team driver to achieve the post in the first half of racing list.
